About Scruff
We got Scruff and Dusty together as a pair. Scruff was independant but Dusty guilt-tripped us into reuniting them with ex-cagemates Timmy and Bump the day after. The four lived together happily for over a year, just Scruff and Dusty having occasional squabbles. Then the hams changed diet, Scruff developed a food allergy and while we were trying to diagnose the problem, someone in the group bit someone else. We decided to separate into two pairs, but we didn't know who had bitten who. We chose to pair Dusty and Scruff, and Timmy and Bump.
Dusty and Scruff lived together happily for a while, during this time we learnt that the previous injury was Dusty removing part of Scruff's tail but the girls were happy so we let them be. One morning Dusty bit Scruff again so the girls were separated and Scruff became a lone hamster. She quickly adapted and seemed to enjoy life alone too. She had two further health scares, the second of which unfortunately ended her life.
Scruff was a happy hamster, she lived a good life and she was content to the end. We couldn't ask for more than that, so she'll always be remembered as Scruff - Our Scruffy little duster ham.
